Making zines

This month I ordered a book about books. It’s called How to Make Books by Esther Smith. I love a title that gets to the point. It’s a beautiful hardback with a heavy card cover, fabulous typesetting and large pictures of gorgeous art books.

So I’m back to making zines.

But in my defence I’m following through the book. No jumping straight to the advanced techniques or ordering fancy supplies. I’m making “instant books” from sheets of copy paper. I’m printing out poetry, bits of blog posts, and photo copying items from my desk to make papers. It’s fun.

I have plans, I do. I so want to sew a book, make signatures, use a typewriter to fill pages somehow. But I’m starting at the beginning.
